    Backsweetening

    If you don`t backsweeten, can it taste pithy (like grapefruit pith) or kinda acrid...weird to explain this without someone else tasting it. The reason i`m asking is that i didn`t backsweeten my last batch of WOW and it`s almost hard to drink and just about tastes off. Barfly.

    My DJ of Wow`s stopped slowly bubbling after a couple of days but the rest of my 8 DJ`s are still bubbling away. In a previous post, i put this down to it being too cold in my house but it can`t be if the rest are behaving as they should be. Can this Wow DJ be kicked off another way? Barfly.

    Am i right in thinking that if i put my really slow fermenting WOW into a water bath, it should kick it off properly? :hmm: BARFLY.

    Stand the DJ in a bucket of water and drop a small aquarium heater in the water. Good idea that....... :thumb: Barfly.

    Don`t know exactly, but it`s pretty feckin` cold. It`s Young super wine yeast compound. The reason i asked the question is that the fresh batch of WOW and an apple/white grape that i put on yesterday are really slow in kicking off compared to other batches that i`ve had on in the last month.

    I`ve made up a few batches of varying fruit juices based on the WOW recipe and they all seem to be going according to plan, but there`s one (Summer Fruits) where the pulpy crust hasn`t sunk back down at all like the rest have. Will it come good given time or is there something else that i can do...

    That`s kicked off, i`ve got wines made from juice fermenting :- 1 Gallon of White Grape and Summer Berries 2 Gallons of White Grape and Apple 2 Gallons of WOW. 1 Gallon of Red Grape All bubbling away nicely. Many thanks for the very quick replies to my Novice enquiries...

    Not for false teeth....

    I use a steradent tablet type of cleaner for my soup flask, so would i be ok using them for steralising my DJ`s ?
