    October Competition - Dark Beers

First of all, thanks to everyone who submitted an entry this month. There were 12 bottles total and I've greatly enjoyed working my way through them, each and every one was a tasty beer. This is actually the first time I've tried others homebrew and am currently very impressed and a little bit...

    October Competition - Dark Beers

I'm afraid I was defeated over the weekend and only managed to taste 8/12. I'll hopefully taste the last few tonight by and have scores/winners to report tomorrow, followed by full feedback in the next few days as I type up my notes. Thanks for being patient, and the excellent beer!

Very true, I hope it helps as I support the cause but it makes you wonder if that was the plan all along

    October Competition - Dark Beers

Yeah, ideally I'd have done the judging last weekend in the first weekend of November, life keeps intruding! First 5 tasted tonight and have to say I'm really impressed! First time I've tried any one elses beer and have to admit it's left me inspired if not a bit jealous. Opened one...

    politically incorrect

It's a load of b******, it's not a partisan issue, it's not near an election. What incentive to companies have to practice better standards, if they're then not allowed to fully advertise the fact and benefit from the PR? It's not like their going to do it just because it's the right thing to...

    October Competition - Dark Beers

Sounds great, my only RIS was a disaster so keen to taste more :beer1: I can add it to the Sunday tasting to give it an extra couple days to settle.

No worries Mick, hope the move went well!

    October Competition - Dark Beers

8 entries now received! Anything that arrives by Saturday will be included, although given number and ABV of entries I'll probably do the judging in two sessions, probably one on Friday, one Sunday :)

Anyone got a good recipe for a mango pale with lactose

This thread was up recently: https://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/threads/mango-ice-cream-neipa-recipe-thoughts.79111/ Looks like it's based off of this well rated Brewers Friend recipe, but with added lactose...

    Beautiful Beers Shop

Anyone ever used this website: https://www.beautifulbeers.co.uk/ ? I'm only just coming round to the idea of ordering specialist beer online, having always depended on a local bottle shop. They seem to have a really good selection of international and specialist beers, although the website...

    Brewferm raspberry??

I would brew the kit as is but taste when it's ready to bottle. If there's not enough raspberry for you add some fresh raspberries to the fermenter and leave for a few days to a week. I brewed my first raspberry beer this summer and used ~70g per litre and it came out super raspberry...

It was a forumite here who put me on to Yellow Belly earlier in the year. I would be eternally grateful to them if I could ever remember who it was...:laugh8:

    October Competition - Dark Beers

clapa I'm actually in the middle of moving house this month (but didn't know exactly when it would happen) so the address given is for a friends place to make sure none got sent to the wrong address. He says 3 had arrived as of yesterday, but I don't know who's yet sorry! Will ask him to open...

    October Competition - Dark Beers

Thanks to those that have sent in beers so far. For those that haven’t still a week and a bit left to get them in the post in time! I’ve decided on a prize finally. It’ll be winners choice between three of my favourite dark beers (below) or £15 voucher for a home brew store of their choice.

    The white poppy. [poll]

I can accept that some people might be like that. But I do really disagree that the only people who are going to buy them are people who want to stand out and be different. I don't see any reason to doubt that the vast majority of people wearing them are doing so to genuinely show respect and...

    Guinness are at it again...

I think they mostly drink the foreign extra version in Nigeria (and africa in general), according to my colleague who travels there a lot anyway. For an unknown reason, the place I saw Guinness most in SE Asia was Cambodia, seemed to be everywhere compared to the neighbouring countries. Tasted...

    The white poppy. [poll]

I'm not really sure why they would be considered any more attention seeking than red poppies. The purpose of both is to generate attention for the cause. Being human, some people will undoubtably wear either because of how they think it makes them look, nothing new or specific to either one...

    October Competition - Dark Beers

That happens to me a lot too :laugh8: Due to life getting in the way I won't be able to taste on the 3rd/4th as previously planned, so happy to take entries that arrive before the 10th of Nov.
