    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

Assuming it’s the LED on the gyro, some people remove it to reduce battery usage, I’ve always just left it. No idea why anyone would paint over it.

Maybe give Brewfather a try? It’s not free, but it’s a really nice “all in one” software

    tilt vs ispindle vs plaato

If you have more money than time, I’d go with the tilt. If you have more time than money, or like the process of tinkering, I’d for for the iSpindel. I have a couple of iSpindels, and would get them again, but I’ve got one which I must have put away damp causing the switch to corrode, and...

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

Mine occasionally misses uploads - I believe it is because the wemos only has a short window, so if it doesn't manage to connect to wifi it gives up for that upload. There is a dedicated Facebook group for the ispindel, it might be worth asking in there. One bought - if you're drawing...

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

Do you have 3 resistors or 2 resistors and a bat43 diode? I believe that connection from d0 to rst is what controls the board going into deep sleep. If you have 3 resistors, maybe try the diode, or check the diode is the right way around.

Beginners Guide to Water Treatment (plus links to more advanced water treatment in post #1)

Yes, you understood the question right, and thanks very much for the answer.

Beginners Guide to Water Treatment (plus links to more advanced water treatment in post #1)

Thanks again for this, keeps being useful every time I come back to it! How would you tie the addition of CRS back to the rest of a water profile? Unfortunately brewfather doesn't have CRS as an addition, so should I just use a salifert test and adjust alkalinity, then take the rest of the...

Guten / SS Brewtech stainless fermenter lid comparability.

Does anyone have one of the ~25l Guten / Angel homebrew / klarstein stainless fermenters, and also an SS brewtech bucket? If so, are the lids cross compatible?

    eBay/amazon counter pressure bottle filler

I made one with: Intertap growler filler attachment 1/2” hose, jubilee clamped at intertap end. John guest 1/2” barb to 1/2” straight John guest 1/2” to 3/8” straight reducer 3/8” beer line Ss brewtech 7G bucket bung from malt miller (think it’s a number 2) The beer line fits snugly into the...

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

One of mine reports direct to brewfather, the other is connected to my brewpi running fermentrack to control the temp, which then reports to brewfather. Brewfather permanently stores the temp & SG graphs with the rest of the recordof that batch. I was previously using BeerSmith, and largely...

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

My equation (in Plato for brewfather) is: -0.000005343*tilt^3 + 0.005028252*tilt^2 + 0.000356375*tilt + -6.13780388 My brewpi accepts a much longer equation (brewpi just reads angle and does the calculation itself), but 4 significant figures seems like plenty. I’d expect the degree 1 to be...

There is a full parts list here, and they make a PCB. The same parts list will also work with the cherry Philips iSpindel 4.0 board from PCB way https://www.opensourcedistilling.com/ispindel/

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

Unfortunately both of my batteries are currently in batches of beer, but google suggests they should be about 45g. You also have the older V1/V2 Wenos which may we’ll be a few grams heavier. try sticking 20g of ballast in the bottom and see if that helps. Alternately it might be worth trying a...

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

Which size tube are you using, and is the board snug in there? Have you done the sensor calibration in the maintainence page (not the full iSpindel calibration, this one just makes sure it reads flat as flat) What angle are you getting? Have you got a picture?

Fermentasaurus, Fermzilla or Fast Ferment. Which to buy?

I used to have a 7G fast ferment, and got rid of it when I ran out of other things to try to stop my hoppy beers oxidising (I was hugely sceptical that plastic permeability could be the issue, but I ran out of their suggestions). I still have the 3G one which is OK for half batches, but the...

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

I thought about it at one point, but considering all of the code and the PCB designs are all Open source, it would seem a bit immoral to make any money from it. In my experience they can also need a bit of TLC to keep them going.I’ve replaced the 4056 charger on a couple of mine (one the charge...

The open source distilling parts list calls the switch a sk12d07, and that one looks right.

Ah those look like they’re for a D1, but I’ve built mine with an uno. Theyre a smart looking board though, where did you get them from?
