    Elderflower wine advice for newb.

    basically my recipe screwed me over.... i have taken note of it and wont make the same mistake! it told me to put x amount of elderflower, zest and juice of 1 lemon and 1 orange, 1/2 cup of strong black tea. pour 6pts of boiling water over it and mix. leave for 4 days... remove flowers and boil...

    on the topic of newbie and elderflower wine... i have many gallons of the stuff in various stages but it is starting to smell... musty almost :( when i first made it it smelt really delicate and sweet but now it smells like damp and must... is this normal? i have just added the relevant amounts...

    there are airlocks and rubber bungs at wilco's... they work out expensive-ish but if you buy 5 packet (10 airlocks) then stagger your fermenting start dates this may be enough :D

    yes, i also heard about the hot water being bad :( unsure about the immersion time... but mine smells strongly of rhubarb :-S time shall tell :thumb:
