hi guys,
Had a bash at Clibit's simple all grain the other day but made a daft mistake and forgot to test the gravity.
Any ideas what it would have been?
Also how do you guys draw some off drop demijohn to test? Do you just use a sterilised syphon?
Its been in fermenting fridge over a week...
Thanks mate.
I already cold crash, however I'll look into 'whirlpooling'
I don't mind the trub, there just seems loads, especially as this was about 10 mins after pitching and fermentation hadn't even started yet.
Cheers again.
Thanks mate.
Had a bash today..
When filtering through muslin it clogged up so used a fine sieve but after 10 mins in the fermentation fridge there seems a lot of hop sediment. Is this going to be a problem?
Hi guys,
I've been doing kit brews for a few months now and thought I'd have a go at this.
I've got all the ingredients in the list, but I cant see the addition of any brewing sugar.
Sorry if this is a newb question but do AG kits not need brewing sugar?
Thanks.
It never seems to get to 20 though. Its always below. The highest ive seen is about 19.7. I'm not too bothered about a degree TBH but just wondered why.
Also better a bit cooler than too hot.
Hi guys,
Been watching my new STC controlled fridge on an FV full of water for a few days now and it seems to be pretty good so far.
Only niggle is it seems to be holding around .5 to 1 degree c below the set temp.
I've set F1 to 20 degrees, F2 to .5, F3 to 10 mins and tried calibrating F4...
I think mine will be ready for hops tonight, i'm around day 12 too. I'll hop tonight and bottle on Sunday (or maybe Tuesday if i decide to Cold crash) probably wont Cold Crash as the bits will drop out later anyway.
Thanks mate.
Its not an Inkbird. I bought the control unit from Amazon here its an STC-1000 it does the same job as an Inkbird but you have to add the sockets or hardwire it yourself.
Its easy to do. Just look on YouTube how to wire it.
I had a load of old MDF knocking about so made my own...
just opened my Juicy IPA to add hops after 8 days and it looks and smells decidedly iffy!
Smells very fruity but not in good way really.
Still covered in a thick layer ot krausen which I would have expected to have gone by now.
What do you guys think. First couple of days it got too hot...
More out if the fact I like making stuff than possibly necessity.
However I cant add it to the roof of the fridge because I cant move the chilling element.
I suppose mounting it to the back of the fridge below the element point forwards towards the door would work?
Anyone put it there?
Thanks.
Lovely work fella.
I use magnetic strip and whiteboard markers to label the metal shelves with which bottles are which in the garage.
Strip is about a fiver from Amazon.
thought I'd post some for pics for anyone who.may like a look-see.
The whole shebang probably cost me under 40 quid including the price of a used ebay fridge (£5) wink...
Had a load of MDF knocking about so I knocked up a box with sockets for the STC-1000 and bought a tube heater.
No drain...
