    Bottling without sediment?

What's the best method to bottle without leaving any sediment? I like the freshness, portability and small space bottled beer can be kept in the house, but would like to try and remove the sediment at the bottom of the bottle. Is this possible?

    All grain first time?

Turned out cracking. Only tried one bottle but that holds a lot of promise. I now have a mesh to cover the drain pipes with, so things should improve, as it took about 4 hours on my first try.

    All grain first time?

    Turned out nice TC

    All grain first time?

Not totally put me off, but can't really spare that sort of time, when a decent extract kit is affordable and can be put together in less than an hour How long would you normally expect a mash tun with 30l of water and 11kg grain to drain out, before you start sparging? How long would you then...

    All grain first time?

Well that was a day n a half. Started as planned about 12, discovered a leak in the hlt, so was running around looking for ptfe before we could get going. That and a few other schoolboy errors, like inly turning one of the kettles on when it came to boiling off the mash, we finally transferred...

    Fermented hot sauce

I picked up 4 packs of 175g of green chillis and a 500g pack of ginger, out the reduced bin in my local asda for £1. Chopped them up fine. Put them in a killer for a couple of weeks with enough white vinegar, wine vinegar and a drop of water, plus about 100g of sugar. Left for a couple of weeks...

    All grain first time?

Cheers @chopps and everyone else for the offer of real time support and words of wisdom. Wish me luck. Today's the day! Will be going for it with my auld boy today. 10 gallons of Old P. coming up, we hope. Kettle should be on by 12, so here goes. First question of the day, apologies in advance...

    All grain first time?

I totally take all your points on board, and do appreciate the advice. But my son has his own family and doesn't live with us. Which is why a 10 gallon batch is first. Will be difficult enough to socially distance as it is without having to try brewing two days. Plan is to mash and ferment at...

    All grain first time?

It isn't a hurry thing, more like a quantity thing, we both would like to end up with 40 pints each.

    All grain first time?

No, they are both the same grains in kit form from Worcester Hops.

    All grain first time?

I have bought a couple of all grain kits, from Worcester Hops of a Theastons Old Peculiar clone. Having a go at all grain with my son and a load of equipment that we have collected together. I have a 60l kettle, cooler box mash tun, not sure of capacity and a 60l fermentation vessel. The info...

Can I still get an abv if I didn't take an O.G

Asda apple is 10g per 100ml so total of 200g Asda mixed fruit juice is between 3g and 4.5g per 100 ml so 60g to 90g. Plus 100g Total sugar is between 360g & 390g. Total liquid 4.5l Using the calc below, you're between 4.7% and 5.1% ISH depending on the mixed juice used...

Cloudy beer after being in my garage

Cheers guys. As someone who, back in the day, has drunk week old Boots kits straight from the fermenter, a bit of haze didn't put me off trying it and it taste fine. Damned fine if anyone wants a recommendation..

Cloudy beer after being in my garage

I brewed an Evil Dog double IPA. Finished lovely and I added some finings, then racked off the sediment before bottling. I left them in the house for about a fortnight, settled lovely in the bottle and was looking clear. So much so, I put some in the pantry and have been drinking them since...

    Fermented hot sauce

Cheers nearly spat my tea across my phone 🤣🤣 Ain't that the truth, because there is basically just me that eats my sauces, they get hotter and hotter. So when someone else dies eventually try them it's far to hot for them. A benchmark to explain how hot something is, where a lot of people may...

    What else do I need?

Thats my kinda setup lol What's the copper pipe for? If I am going to try brew enough, each batch, for two kingkeg barrels. I do need to take the transfer from one container to the next into consideration, may not be too bad, but are any inline drill type pumps, that are food grade available to...

    What else do I need?

Never thought of it as I often see people converting beer barrels, kinda thought they worked similarly to gas bottles, you pay a deposit if you haven't got an empty. As one of my boys runs a pub, just thought it wouldn't be a problem. Thanks for your input, will definitely give more thought to...

    What else do I need?

Thanks Banbeer, I will check the type of plastic the HLT is made from but am fairly confident, if it can boil the water it should be grand for the wort. Hmm now I need to find a decent recipe to have a go with. Or I may need to talk to my son's brother in-law, who is the sales manager for a...

    What else do I need?

I already use the 60l to ferment a sugar wash or a rum base and know not to fill it too much. 50l is plenty for most purposes. The barrels I mentioned are beer barrels from a pub, but if the plastic HLT can double as the kettle then all I need is the mash tun, which can be mine for a very very...
