    Two Brews - stuck?

Sounds like a plan Eddie. Putting them in the bath with some warm water would probably do as I don't have a sink big (or strong) enough! Thanks Geoff

    Two Brews - stuck?

Thanks for the replies folks. I don't really have anywhere warmer other than moving them next to a radiator and keeping the heating on 24/7 - and SWMBO would just turn it off anyway! It's an old house it's just colder than normal (single glazing, cold Scottish winter outside etc). As far as I...

    Two Brews - stuck?

Thanks Ian. I'll give that thread a good read. I have a brewbelt, but I'm never sure if it overheats the beer or not. The last two batches I've made with it have been less than great and I'm sure they've just been stewed by the constant heat. The thermostat option and a heater sounds good...

    Two Brews - stuck?

Hi folks, I have two brews on the go at the moment. One is a Munton's Continental Pilsner and the other is a Munton's Highland Heavy. I've only ever brewed one at a time, but thought it was time that I went for two, given that I have two kits. I was hesitant to start the two kits due to the...

    First taste of home brew!

Fantastic! Congratulations on getting your first brew through to the drinking stage! I brewed a Cooper's Lager with my first kit, and it wasn't that great after 3 weeks, but I brewed a St. Peter's Ruby Red straight off the back of the first one and it's been great from about week 2 onwards...

    flat IPA?

Ok - so I've just poured my second bottle - as you can see it was bottled on the 28th Sept. I poured it from a height to see if I could get a head on it, so do you reckon the fact that I was able to get a decent head retention on it, that means it was primed after all? The only thing is that...

    flat IPA?

Thanks folks! I'll see what I can do, and I'm glad the temperature is just about right. Although the Ruby Red which I'm brewing just now has dropped to 18 deg C so I'm trying one of these brewbelt gadgets - not sure it's making much of a difference to be honest! It's on day 4 and the head has...

    flat IPA?

I did, although I don't know what constitutes 'warm'. About the warmest place in our house is a cupboard in the kitchen and it's generally about 20 deg c. That's where they stayed for the first couple of weeks. There's nowhere consistently warmer than that I'm afraid. It's an old house in...

    flat IPA?

Hello folks, I recently bottled a St Peter's IPA and it's been in the bottles for almost 3 weeks now. I used the Cooper's PET bottles, so it's quite easy to see if there's carbonation given the pressure when squeezed. I realise 3 weeks isn't a hell of a long time to leave them but my issue is...

    White spots....

I should do that, but I have my fermenter next to my desk as it's the most consistent place temperature-wise (I work from home) so probably look at it far too much! I must say though, I do love the first few days when the yeast really starts to become active and there's a huge head on it! I...

    White spots....

Thank you for the replies and the reassurance folks! I'll wait this one out and bottle it when it reaches 14 days. I'm going to get a second fermenting kit and stagger the kits I make as it's too much to watch just one for 14 days! Cheers Geoff

    White spots....

Hi Folks, I'm brewing a Munton's Gold Continental Pilsner and it's on day 10 of primary fermentation. It all smells fine and tastes great too. Gravity has been a constant 1.007 over the last few days. Forgot to take SG though so can't work out the ABV. I'm trying to leave it where it is...

    1st Brew

Hi Sponge, I've watched quite a few of Craig's videos, and I must say they're what made me really want to give it a go. I just have memories of my Dad brewing stuff way back in the late 70's and early 80's and it all tasting terrible. For that reason I was on the fence until I saw Craig's...

    1st Brew

Hey Sponge, Just found your thread here on the forum. I brewed my very first batch a couple of months ago now - Cooper's Lager, just the same as you. I too tried mine after a week in the bottle and while it was good, it wasn't brilliant. I'm now on week 7 in the bottle and it's really...

    Bottled St.Peters Ruby

Just a quick update. I've been sampling my Ruby Red and it's fantastic. Although I think I'll need to slow down a bit and leave some for the long stretch as apparently, they get better over time. How are you getting on with yours Falconi? Have you tried it yet? Cheers Geoff

    Bottled St.Peters Ruby

I bottled my St Peter's Ruby Red around the same time (5th Sept). I also put a few in clear bottles (not to drink, more to check on the sediment etc). Mine's relatively clear, but I've noticed some sediment at the bottom. About 10 days in the primary fermentation at around 22 deg. Let me know...

    Greetings from Glasgow

I went into the Inn House Brewery shop today in Partick. As you say, it's really well stocked and has pretty much everything I need. I came away with a box of Grolsch-style bottles (500ml) and a St Peter's Indian Pale Ale kit. Kerching!

    Greetings from Glasgow

Brilliant, thank you! I've been using the the-home-brew-shop.co.uk so far and I must say they've been great. Less than 24 hours from order to delivery if ordered on a weekday. Not bad at all. I'll check out innhousebrewery next time I'm down that way (I'm a South-sider!) Cheers Geoff
