    Wilko yeast volcano eruption

Sg around 1060 . Fermented in the garage using a brewbelt. I didn't think it would get too warm as it was about -5c last night :) Be suprised if it hit 20c Couldn't water it down , was already about 3 inches from top of fermenter Brewed using 6.5 kg pale malt and 400g crystal, about 28 litres at...

    Wilko yeast volcano eruption

Hi all, Is there anything I can do to stop this happening ? I just make a normal all grain brew but whenever I use wilkos yeast I sprinkle on top then after about 24 hrs I lose at least two litres due to crazy foaming eruptions on the top. Proper mess too :( If I use safale 04 there's...

    Bits floating in beer :(

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll dry hop later next time and use a muslin bag. Still, if it's drinkable it won't go to waste :)

    what size coleman coolbox

Hi, I need a bigger coolbox. I currently use about 6kg of grain to make a 25 litre brew. My coolbox mashtun is full using this. I'm looking at coleman xtreme 36 qt but not sure exactly how big that is. Anyone used one and would it be big enough for around 9 - 10 kg of grain with about 25 litres...

    Brewing Now, Buffalo Fail

My buffalo boiler used to do that, I bypassed the thermal cutout switch. To play it safer I think you can buy a cutout switch which reaches a higher temp. Been working fine for over 12 months now

    Hop pellets

Hi, I usually use leaf hops and just add to the boil, I have a tube type filter atteched to the tap on a buffalo boiler. Anyway I've been given some pellets, do I use these the same as leaf or will they clog the filter ? Thanks

how long can I keep after fermenting

Hi, How long is it ok to keep the beer in a fresh fermenting bucket after fermentation ? I ask as I'm getting short on bottles and barrels ( they're all full ) and this is a good time for brewing in garage. Would it be ok to stay in the 5 gallon bucket for say 3 weeks / and if so would it...

    buffalo boiler

Not at first but after a few of brews I had to bypass the thermal cutout and the thermal fuse as it was cutting out during the boil
