I work on installing or servicing gas turbines that are used for power generation or for mechanical drive applications. I get to fly all over the world and I'm currently in Saudi Arabia and I haven't had a beer or any alcohol for 3 weeks now. My flight home can't come soon enough.

If you get a food safe one there should be no problems. If you are using it as a mash tun it will not be getting too hot. They are pretty cheap too so you can always upgrade it later. I think they have rounded internal corners which should make cleaning it fairly simple.

What about a 1000l IBC tank? Square with a tap already fitted. Easy to move around with a pallet truck too. You would have to insulate it and fit a suitable lid but would be good for a large herms.

I normally use brewing sugar whuch is fructose I believe. Good results so far if I remember to add to the brew. I normally forget to add it as in the book it is at the top with the grain bill not lower down with the rest of the hops that go into the copper.

Yeah I have used it in the past. Nice malt and we had a good efficiancy from the mash. To be honest to my uneducated palate I couldn't taste much difference to MO. Give it a bash mate :thumb:

I'm opinion the thermostat is not really needed. If is too cold leave it a bit longer. Too hot add some cold or wait a while. Just one more thing to go wrong. Just get a plastic or stainless bucket and a tesco element. You will find that if you avoid the shiny your setup should be less than £60...
