I'm with you there! My airlock has got quiet now, going to be bottling at the start of next week. I had a little taste when a took a gravity reading a few days ago - it tasted quite unrefined, hopefully this will improve as it progresses.

    pectolase - when to add?

I was planning to get my first batch of WOW started this evening, but the local wilkinsons was out of stock of pectolase. Will I be able to get the wine started tonight and add the pectolase at a later date? My understanding us that is breaks down the fruit in the juice to help clear, rather...

Just finished setting up my first brew, a coopers Canadian blonde kit. Made it with 500g extra light spray malt and 700g dextrose. The smell of the spray malt and dextrose dissolving was awesome, I wanted to drink it then! Took the initial gravity reading as 1.038 at 24oC whig seems in the...

Length of time in a barrel

I have just ordered a kit with the intention of bottling the beer (lager) I quite like the idea of making up a bitter and putting it in a barrel, I seem to read very different reports of the length of time the beer will keep in the barrel, some say it needs to be drunk in the first 7-10 days or...
