I know for the Evildog Doubled IPA I did previously it says that hops are already added to the bag of "malt extract" as the starting hops and you just need to add the finishing hops yourself, i think its just to make it as simple as possible

Just a question about using a barrel rather than bottles. I wondered how long it lasts and what is needed, co2 etc ??

yes what you are saying makes sense, i really do not get a strong hop smell at all, the teabag seems to have very small perforations, so not much fluid could really pass through, I think next time I might try just throwing it in

Do they not break up and cause any issues? Seems like they go very mushy

I just started another batch, same as you, first 3 days fermentation was crazy, im on day 4 now its slowing right down. I will just leave it for 10 or 11 days before adding the Hops

I guess it’s either that the hops were not great or the bag that they come in does not let the beer absorb it very well! Maybe transferring it to a different bag would work?

I just bottled mine tonight and I had very little hop smell or flavour, im not sure the tea bag really worked ?

I added the 2 hop bags 2 days ago but I don't seem to be getting that strong hop smell I expected. I then bottled tonight and tasted half a pint, it does taste quite strong but does not seem to have much flavour, is this normal or did the dry hopping not work ?

I think maybe that was what I missed, there is no mention of that in the instructions, it just says top up to 23l
