    Do have a hop problem?

Not sure I could give up my fix that easily TBH, hoppy beer is just too good to give up on :)

    Do have a hop problem?

OK, since the relocation I've been spending time reading the recipe / brew day posts that have cropped up, and for some reason paying more attention than before. I notice that many brews use well under 100g of hops, and usually pretty 'medium' alpha acid hops at that. My own brews rarely...

    First AG Ale is boiling...

Congratlations. I still get the same thrill every time I keg / bottle my AG brews, and the 'boost' when I drink a pint of my own AG is still something special :) Admittedly, not as big a boost as I get when my friends like my AG, but damn good anyway :D Welcome to the dark side, beware the...

    yeast pitching temperature, oops!

High fermentation temperatures not only give off flavours, they create the type of beer that gives you a hang over for lower quanties. 18 to 20 degrees or beer, colder for lager.

    Anyone who knows Java

That's ^^ me as well. I can code C++, VB and Java when I have to, but sorting out the internetrickery is another clever beggar's speciality :(

Something for the land rover fans!

Disco, Range Rover, Shogun, JEEP (any JEEP) are all very, VERY good off road. Sadly not affordable to off road enthusiasts until they get to the borderline unreliable stage :(

    Forum suggestions

Fair point, well made. I'd assumed it would appear once I've actually made a post, however...... Guess it's another one for the bugs and glitches forum :(

    Forum suggestions

Multi quite a useful little feature that allows you to select a number of replies to comment on in one go, once you get used to it it's odd when it's gone.

Something for the land rover fans!

I'm also interested in what they do with the Defender, as a LR owner and member of a couple of LR forums (you need the group support for the older ones, trust me on this) I've seen a few 'odd' threads over the years from people asking 'crusty' LR owners what they want from a modern 4x4. None of...

My kid brother is working out there now, he's making a medium sized mint by the sounds of things. What's your speciality?

Coffee a new adventure for me

@ The Goatriech This makes 'proper office coffee' less obviously snobbish :) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Smart-Cafe-On ... 20dbe7b1a8 You can get colours besides red. I have one in the office, had to after I had to get rid of the filter coffee maker I'd had on my desk for years, two to three...

    Whats everyone drinking?

Cranberry juice and tonic water this morning, had one too many off my own ginger ales last night and for the first time in ages I've actually got a bad head. This batch must have been a little stronger than I expected, probably the extra kg of honey :D

    A Doctor Writes

"just a little prick" is the usual comment, I mean, how do they know? I'm always fully dressed :( There are a couple of posts in this thread that beg for a like button :D

Tetely cask in one of my local spoons pubs

Based on observation JDW aren't a threat to 'real' pubs, but to the neighbouring city centre pubs, which by and large are there for Friday and Saturday night binge drinking, no chairs, very few tables, maximum floor space to pack in boozers and no where to put your drink down. Compared to that...

    Whats everyone drinking?

My own Cascade hopped pale ale, a little cloudy, but very nice thanks :)

Your average pub pint compared to home brew?

Two more stonking pints last night, and a killer cider to boot :) One of the local 'spoons had a couple of stouts on, one Irish Stout, one Celtic Stout, both excellent, although I preferred the Irish as it had more burnt coffee flavour in it. The cider was a killer, I only checked the ABV when...

    Brewing beer with hops (beginner)

I tend to boil the hops in just water, I read that water has a limit on how much alpha acid it will take from the hops, so if you want a hop tea that will make a difference to your brew kit you have to use lots of hops, unless you are going to boil up more water so thealpha acid will make the...

Try to get your head round this in the pub...

He sees the obvious, then questions it, then turns the question and answer on their heads. Always a thread of logic, often challenging standard thinking, a rather brilliant mind in my view :D
