20mph Wales: Some roads to revert to 30mph after backlash

Well that’s why I said that politicians and planners need to get together to at least give people the option. Where I live the buses stop about 1800, the nearest railway station is about 4 miles away and cycling is very hazardous because of the self importance and entitlement of some motorists...

20mph Wales: Some roads to revert to 30mph after backlash

How do you quantify how much is too much of anything? Too much crime, too much disease, too much wet weather? Walk around any town and you’ll see cars parked all over pavements forcing pedestrians to walk in the road. Traffic jams which are caused by too many motor vehicles. @1600 people a year...

20mph Wales: Some roads to revert to 30mph after backlash

I don’t have a problem with that either. There are way too many cars on the roads already and we rely on them too much. Cars are noisy and dangerous and many of the people who drive them are selfish and inconsiderate. If planners and politicians could get their heads together to find a way of...

20mph Wales: Some roads to revert to 30mph after backlash

It really doesn’t bother me that much. It took a little bit of adjusting after 50 years of 30 speed limits, but it’s only a 10mph reduction. I really don’t understand the fuss that’s being made, it’s not as if they want one of your kidneys.

    RELIGION

Hands up, I didn’t. I heard the start of the song and didn’t want to go any further. Lesson learned.

If praying could heal amputees, I’d be impressed. But this is just coincidence.

    RELIGION

I don’t know if that’s true, but it’s feasible. After all, Muslims,Jews and Christians all worship the same god. It’s just the narratives that are different.

    RELIGION

Well certainly the three Abrahamic religions are very sensitive about Jehovah. I don’t know much about religions with a smaller fan base, but there’s probably some isolated tribe living in somewhere like the Amazon rain forest who would take exception if you took the p!$$ out of the Great Mumba...

Hmmm, is it ok to say that I rather like the idea of being taken to Hel’s bosom?

What I don’t understand is this, we live in a time when it is perfectly acceptable to challenge, question or even ridicule people on which political dogma they support or which football team they support. But for some reason their choice of religion has to be treated like delicate porcelain.

3rd all grain what's gone wrong.

I agree. I’ve got to the end of a brew before now and discovered that I’d run out. It may have taken a little longer to drop clear but it turned out fine.

The UK doesn't want the Imperial system back.

I think retention of pints in pubs is more of a cultural thing, spirits in the UK have been sold in metric measures for years. And in Canada many places still offer a sixteen or twenty ounce pint despite having been metric for decades.

There’s no doubt that road signs would need to be changed which would involve a cost. How much that cost would be, I have no idea but I suspect that it wouldn’t be as much as all the billions that the blue team have wasted on dodgy PPE contracts for example. As I said before there is a mixture...

Oh, and you can still buy pints in pubs in Ireland.

What’s wrong with abolishing miles? And why do you think it would be so disruptive? As I said previously in relation to decimalisation of the money, it caused a few moans and grumbles but people still got used to it.

    Apart from British exceptionalism.
