    Shopliftting.

I can see this pushing the tiny convenience stores back to the pre 80s 'open all hours' model, where you no longer pick your own goods. After all that's what all these online shoppers do now, it's just replacing a mouse click with asking the assistant for the items.

    Great British Rail

It's not that straight forward. In school days trains would often be a few minutes late & occasionally cancelled but less so than now. Quite rare to have train failure as mechanically simple trains & if a door stuck, the guard would walk along & give it a kick. The only time we failed to get to...

    Gin Infusions?

I'd get some jam jars and experiment with small batches. Look online for start points. E.g. I based my first trials on sloe gin. It worked great for gooseberries, but way too much sugar for blackberries & blueberries, so next attempt I'll 1/2 the sugar. Batches also take 3-6 months for me, so...

    Brewing temperature (complete novice)

If you have a house that's got central heating & some insulation you should be fine. I wouldn't worry about it at the start of your home brew trajectory, as it's something you can fine tune or invest in later if you want to take the hobby further

    Small Batch All Grain Brewing

Yes, easy to put in a demi John or old water bottle. I've done a couple of experimental brews on this scale & when I made something with a lot of trub, I just about got 3l out of it.

    Recipe help

I find brambling cross quite modest in how it contributes to the flavour. You could supplement it with the EKG you have left.

    Hop Control

Good point Clint, as we all know that Americans think that the only place in the world is America.

But alas Sony charged too much for the license, so the cheap version won.

    Cider again tonight.

    Hops expansion

I have to say I try to use real hops & not the pellets. I have used them in veg bags, but recently I've been putting them in loose, but leaving the false bottom in the boiler during the boil. What I've found is using too much protofloc is what clogs the tap (sorry, I'm not an AIO devotee)...

    Electric cars.

Ok, I see fuel cost savings. but what hasn't come out so far is insurance cost and maintainence costs. I don't think maintainence costs will be clear for at least another 5 years as we start to see independent mechanics that are able to fix electric cars After all, even with ice cars, once your...

    Bacon!

You know bacon cuts are available in streaky, middle & back depending on the ratio of fat/meat. With streaky bacon being best for generating crispy bacon. Although the rind has been trimmed off of most pre packed supermarket bacon - maybe this is what foxy means. But it's worth occasionally...

    Electric cars.

No, because if you do that with a diesel you are into the pain of manually re-priming the pump somehow. (Well one of them has a blood pressure type squeeze bulb on the fuel line adjacent to the fuel filter, so I'm guessing that's what it's for)

    Electric cars.

No he doesn't. It because operating systems are more greedy on resources & programmers are more lazy. <Rant> Perceived speed of running office 97 on a 200MHz pentium pro is no different & in fact sometimes faster than running office 365 on a 2400MHz i5. Also modern website design is sh1t. Too...

    Electric cars.

Not quite what I meant. If we think about a simple case of a van, it might have say 12 battery modules under the floor. And when they start to go, you could just lift a floor panel and switch 1 or 2 out as needed You would also have 8 of the same sized packs in a car, or 6 in a small car. Just...

    Electric cars.

I think on average the grid could cope. But I also believe there are a lot of places where it wouldn't due to infrastructure bottlenecks. Reasonable size towns would be ok. Problems will occur in more rural areas, for example where big housing estates have been added to villages. Not just...

    Anna's Brewdays

Difficult call with the selfie. Why not go back & edit the post to remove it. On one hand it's nice to see normal people doing stuff. But on the other it's got your picture directly linked to your user. (At the museum where I volunteer, we avoid naming the people that appear in the pictures)

    Anna's Brewdays

I often boil (with my simple kit) using just the 900w element & the lid partially on to save power. It is a bit of a balancing act to adjust the lid overlap against boil over, especially when you down have any fancy PWM power control (that's fancy variable power) In fact I have only recently...
