    Dry hopping

Stu. That looks interesting, thanks. Try and figure something out using that. Agent. Thanks. Do use get enough aroma/flavour using that compared to slinging in loose? Hop. Tried loads of filtering methods and eventually end up with the same headache. I'll always compromise with acceptable...

    Dry hopping

Hello all. I know plenty been discussed on the subject, but I'm a lazy toe rag and can't be dealing with a scrolling through the threads. Quick one. How do you lot dry hop? I have been chucking them in loose but the clogging when transferring or bottling is starting to become debilitating to...

    Grainfather Conical temp controller problem

Yeah they're all fine. Even took the controller itself apart and all the electronic components look fine. Baffled to say the least.

    Grainfather Conical temp controller problem

Yeah done that. Cleaned the connectors, took it all apart and no sign of anything that's shorted etc??? Just a strobe light situation in the kitchen courtesy of the controller.... So atm no temp control which is annoying

    Grainfather Conical temp controller problem

Hello all, Brewed a gose yesterday. Transferred to my GFCF, plugged it in, attached the digital temperature controller and it just started flashing on and off. It doesn't heat, it shows the current temp (when flashing) but that's it. Always worked perfectly up until now????? I took the...

    Sourcing Co2

Hello all. I've decided to start kegging. Got some kit ordered just need to get me hands on some Co2. Problem is I've no idea how to approach this. From modest research online it doesn't seem as straight forward as I hoped and quite a bit of agg. Was looking at getting a decent sized bottle but...

Kegging - switching between Co2 bottles

Hello all. Just looking to bends your ears for a bit of advice. Looking to get in to kegging but don't have enough room for a full kegerator in my gaff. Was thinking of getting some 5l and/or 10l kegs to keep in a fridge (empty just for this usage, so enough room for keg/s). The thing is the...

    Equipment storage advise/tips

Thanks for the replies. Good idea ref the moisture trap. Will try that if no other pearls of wisdom are offered (as was hoping an alternative to vacuum bags would be suggested). Loft conditions are generally fine so that isn't a concern. Basically how does everyone else on the for store their...

    Equipment storage advise/tips

Hi all, I've had to move my brewing kit to the loft for storage in-between brews (no longer enough room in my gaff). I have a Grainfather G30, GF conical and a sparge water heater. I'm worried storing in the loft during winter could cause issues with the electrical components and/or general...

Off flavour (dare I say twang)

Clarence - Kolsch about 16-17 if memory serves and IPA at 19 (CML ale yeast). All constant using temp control. As mentioned tasted good out of the fermenter (IPA). Also to add, bottles carbed around 16-18, so nothing stressful in terms of temp.

Off flavour (dare I say twang)

Hello all. Wondered your thoughts on the following. I’m an all grain brewer with many brews under me belt. Most beers are decent enough, and the ones that are not are just a little underwhelming but not unpleasant and certainly drinkable. Problem is my last couple of beers have finished up...

Acidulated malt and Philly Sour yeast

NB - Thanks for the link, will look in to it. Main reason I wanted to combine both the acid malt and the Philly Sour as individually they both only produce modest results (AM experience first hand and Philly Sour online research seems to suggest not overly sour). So the combination seemed the...

Acidulated malt and Philly Sour yeast

Thanks for the reply. As mentioned I used 20% before and was pleasant enough but underwhelmed with the level of sour/sharp/tartness (I had followed a recipe online).

Acidulated malt and Philly Sour yeast

Hi All I’m just about to stick on a Gose and am planning to use Philly Sour yeast for the first time. Question I have is there an amount of acid malt that will be too excessive? My first Gose I brewed I added around 20% acid malt to the grist and it turned out well (although could have been...
