Bevie and Keg King Distributing Partnership.

This thread has confused me. There’s the Apollo 30l snub nose, uni tank and 60l unitank, fermenter king junior in 20 and 10l, ultra taps including the twist and accessories like jackets, ultra fills and other. All this available in multiple retail stores in the UK. There’s clearly plenty of KK...

    Festival British Beer Clones

Has anyone seen these? New clone beers of British Ales. Britfire (Spitfire) Wrights (Wainwrights) Friars (Abbot) Brigadier (Bombardier) Not around enough to see reviews yet but seem a good fit for Festival beer kits. Not had a bad one yet.

The downfall of the Tory party.

Sunak, although not my cup of tea was clearly more qualified for the job than Truss. There must be something the membership didn’t quite like about him… can’t quite put my finger on it.

    G30/G40 counterflow chiller…

Mines pretty quick but 1l/min is pretty optimistic in warm weather where the water out of your tap isn’t as cold. Don’t go mad with it but maybe try 3l/min and adjust your ball valve accordingly. I haven’t timed mine but 15 mins in the winter, 20-25 mins in the summer is probably about what I...

    Achieving 38C in a Kegerator!

If you get the conical jacket, you’ll get 20c above ambient. I’ve done it. Although I wouldn’t worry too much about the temp, get it high and stable. If you get to 32c, it might just take an extra few hours to ferment out and won’t effect the flavour.

    Tonic Water

I don’t think NZ is the only place people distil at home. 🤐

    Tonic Water

Just add it in the keg at the start. Safety measure to stop a heavy handed pour ;)

    Tonic Water

    Haha fair enough

    Tonic Water

Why pointless? It’s still quite a bit cheaper and saves 19 plastic bottles and carting around 19kgs of water around the place. Could be nicer too.

Any update? Looking forward to hearing what you thought of it.

Mangrove Jacks Pink Grapefruit: Secondary fermentation.

You can work that out on here https://www.brewersfriend.com/beer-priming-calculator/ Maybe shoot for 2.4 vols. If you dissolve the sugar in hot water, leave it to mostly cool down before putting it in your bottling bucket, then syphon the beer on top. I’ve previously just thrown it in hot and...

    Tonic Water

I’m sure you could swap out the sweetener for sugar if you wanted to. Not sure if the flavouring is natural or artificial. Shelf life I’d imagine would be quite a while as it’s acidic (citric acid) and includes preservative. 6 months plus at a guess if the keg is sanitised well.

    Tonic Water

Not sure if this is in the right place? Sort of like a soda stream pack for homebrewers. https://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/product/still-spirits-tonic-water-kit/ Has anyone tried it yet? I often have a spare keg and maybe the wife will be more open to homebrew purchases if there’s a tonic on...

    Grainfather Element

Have you tried contacting Grainfather? If it’s out of warranty (over 3 years) they’re not obligated to repair/replace it but it doesn’t mean they won’t. Maybe give them a try before you spend any money.

    Grainfather S40

Nice! Hope it turns out well. The good think about the size of that is if you want 5 gallon batches, you can just brew full volume if you want and not bother with the sparge. Just expect a bit lower efficiency (cost about 20p more in grain or something). I saw the dog and partridge video. They...

    Grainfather S40

As long as it was moving, all’s good. Actually you’ll lose less to evaporation so a little more wort in your fv. You’ll probably find with smaller batches it’ll be move vigorous and when it’s not quite as cold ambient. The element on it is 2.3kw which is more powerful than the G30 it’s just a...

    Grainfather S40

It’ll be the altitude then. It never reached 100c because your boiling point is 99c. Nothing to worry about - it was boiling. Have you tried the brewday timer on the Grainfather app? It’s a good tool (on the G30 it controls it using Bluetooth but you can still use the timer non-connected. I used...

    Grainfather S40

Was it physically boiling though? If you could see a rolling boil it’ll be fine. If you’re high up somewhere, the boil temperature can dip below 100c. I believe the controller on the S40 will only show the next degree you when hit that temp. I.e. if it’s 99.9 it’ll display 99. If you’re a bit...

    Coopers enhancer 2 of 2

It’ll probably be unbalanced. The iso-hop extract will only be in the kit and will be set to balance the fermentable if brewed as instructed. Not to say it’ll be a bad beer but will be sweeter than it’s meant to be. Also a lot of sugar in there so might struggle to hit FG as the yeast will be...
