Advice on using Grainfather Conical Fermenter & Glycol Chiller

I’ve had this happen once or twice and I’ve connected CO2 to the bottom outlet and pushed it through to clear. Added benefit of displacing O2 from the headspace.

    The Homemade Pizza Thread

I have the older Ooni3 gas model. It started out as a pellet model but I soon changed that. The pellets are a real pain. You need 6 hands when cooking to keep them topped up and can they’re inconsistent. Sometimes they choke and you’re left with billowing acrid smoke. Gas is so much easier and...

    The Homemade Pizza Thread

Really enjoyed reading this thread. I have an Ooni3 with gas attachment and use dough recipes from the Pizza Bible book, 48hr cold proove. I find it interesting working with dough and you know when you’ve got it right or wrong by how it handles. Took a while to get the hang of things but getting...

    Your house brew.

I’ve only been brewing for a year but 5 Points bitter has been done x3 times and David Heath’s Verdant IPA x4 times.

Just done. Unbelievably I just bumped into Chopps at a work thing and he recognised my name and we had a good chat!

    Brewzilla

I use the whirlpool arm and always leaves a nice hop cone. Also aids cooling with immersion chiller. Halfway through cooling I switch to the silicone hose and recirculate through a stainless steel sieve which filters a LOT of very fine crud. Like others though I find that a lot of stuff makes it...

    Time in FV

How do you determine that it doesn’t clean up (diacetyl) in the bottle/keg?

    Time in FV

Hi Sym, I’ve brewed the same 5 points all grain kit three times now in the same BZ35L. I’ve always left it 14 days in the FV (as I do with most if not all brews). Fermentation finished after about 6-7 days and the yeast the. Has time to clean up. Each batch has been superb, hence why I’ve brewed...

Brewzilla false bottom hack - securing the false bottom

I place a heavy stirring paddle into the wort when I start the boil heaters. It weighs down the false bottom and prevents this. I remove it all the end of the boil.

“Small glycol tank and pump in your keg cooler of choice.”. Don’t want to hijack but can you expand on this part a bit please as I’m looking to do similar. Cheers.

    Where to buy Star San

Don’t you have to rinse the bleach? I thought that the point of starsan/Chemsan was that it was no rinse.

    Who uses Star San

I have an immersion chiller then bought a plate chiller and was also thinking about the CF chiller. I had nothing but trouble with the plate chiller and don't use it anymore. I went back to the immersion chiller and haven't had a bad brew or experience with it. No cleaning hassles either. I only...

The Quest for the Perfect Bitter

Grappenhall. Don’t get to the pub much but if I do it’s usually the Parr Arms. Grappenhall beer festival is usually quite good.

The Quest for the Perfect Bitter

Sorry, misread the 'Landlord' tag as actually being a landlord - I'm new! I think Costello's has closed down (my barber worked behind the bar there), sadly.

The Quest for the Perfect Bitter

Yeah, I stumbled across it by accident. Would normally buy ingredients separately but turned out to be really convenient and a great result with minimal hassle!
