Entirely by chance this turned out to be a extra strong bitter. I've done a fairly comrehensive write up, complete with typical ramblings on wordpress. I know it is a bit out of order but I'm just going to go ahead and link to it here: http://chrismakesbeer.wordpress.com/ Have a look if...

    ingredients database?

does anyone know of a (easy) way to search for a recipe from ingredients? E.G. I have a fridge filling up with half full packets of hops (why do they only sell them in 100g bags!) and a big sack of Dingeman's pale malt. Is it possible to punch this info into a database and it produces a list...

    Holland and Barrett Malt Extract

useless piece of inforation for you. the popularity of malt extract in the US came about because it was sold as a 'health product' from shops during the prohibition. Presumably domestic gardens in the US also saw a rise in the growing of a certain herbacious perenial vine too.

    garage temp question

I made her some cherry beer. Though she's a bit miffed that it won't be ready for such a long time.

    garage temp question

Ha ha. yes. The second and third brews made it into the garage, without SWMBO noticing. Just once she said: hmm there seems to be a lot of new beer stuff in the garage.

    garage temp question

Hi, Thanks, that explains a lot! If I do bring them in and hide them in a cupboard, will they come back to life? (sorry for being such a novice).

    garage temp question

Hi all. I'm relatively new to all this, so I have a stupid noob question for you. I'm fairly sure I know the answer to this but want it confirmed by you lot with more experience / knowledge than I. If I put newly bottled beer in my garage to condition at this time of year (6-10 degrees) am...

    White House Honey ale

I'm a little embarrassed to admit it. Suffice to say it was well into double digits. I read somewhere that it may make it taste a bit of bananas, does that sound likeky. I should say it's pretty cold in my garage (17-18) so most of the fermenting is done in normal range.

    White House Honey ale

Well. I made this today using an extraxt recipe kit that i got from BrewUK. This was my first time out of the comfort zone of full can kit. Could have been more comprehensive instructions. For example there was no suggestion that you should put the crystal malt into a bag? I think I pitched...

    Why do you brew?

Reading through this thread. I see a lot of familiar reasons. SWMBO bought me a Coopers kit for christmas last year. I must have rumbled about how ***** most beer was from our crappy local Tesco (I live in Peckham, there is nothing in-between proper **** and high end craft beer) and how I...

Please allow me to ... etc etc.

Hello again. Really feel like I've joined the right place. Since i wrote first post I have a Breferm Abdij kit bubbling away nicely in the garage. Am about to start number 3 (di and danny golden) and am waiting for more buckets and a White House 'ale to the chief' recipe kit to arrive...

    Coopers Wheat Beer Review

This is currently fermenting in my garage. Was the first beer I've made in best part of 20 years. So essentially is a new thing for me. Looks good so far. Smell and colour looks about right for a wheat beer. Will be interested to see how it develops.

Helloo. Neither a man of wealth or especial taste. I have just rediscovered the joy of home brew. 37 now, made my first brew when a stripling of only 18. after a near two decade long break, I have yeasties working their magic in my garage. So. I have a Cooper's diy wheat beer kit OG (am I...
