    Composting Wine Sediment

Is it OK to compost wine sediment from wine kits? I'm big into composting - some would say obsessive- and am trying to recycle as much as possible.

How to degas wine with a home made degassing wand

I bought a degasser to fit my drill and it works great. I should have waited for this post but Hey Ho. However...Is it possible to over-degas the wine? I mainly use kits atm but occasionally do country wines.

Stubborn Ferment. Will not go down to 1.000

This kit is now at 1.006. It refuses to go down anymore but that is much better than 1.018. I'm thinking of stirring and yeasting it one more time. Good Idea? Or should I continue with the Cellar7 process and accept a sweet Sauvignon Blanc.

Stubborn Ferment. Will not go down to 1.000

Oh Yes! I'm almost neurotic about that sort of thing having had a Malbec turn to vinegar last year.

Thanks Nick. Somethings for me to try out. I gave it a stir a few days back. Will add some sugar today.

Stubborn Ferment. Will not go down to 1.000

I have a Cellar7 Sauvignon Blanc kit which I started on 27th June. Starting gravity was 1.082. I checked the Gravity after 7 days and it was 1.018 – and that is where it still is today. The thermometer says it’s running at 22%. Does anyone have any ideas to restart the fermentation?

Parsnip Wine - Is it done?

Thank you. I used Youngs Dried Yeast. Not a special one. I think I'll call it finished. It smells incredibly sweet - like a liqueur. I'm guessing it will be one for a quiet even sip in the summer. No knocking it back.

Beer Kits - Cooler & Longer – Will it Work?

I’ve been making wine kits for a few months, but I can’t do the temperatures 22 – 25 degrees. So I have a couple of heat pads in my garage which seem to be working. The tape thermometers do not show a reading, I don’t know why. The wine kits are taking a few days longer at the cooler...

    This Must Be Beginner’s Luck

I have just made a 6 bottle kit of Winebuddy Cabernet Sauvignon and on day 26 of Vineco Pinot Grigio 30 bottle kit. They both taste much better than what we buy in the supermarkets already. We are away now for a few days and will bottle up on our return, but I am suitably chuffed.

    Bore Da from South Wales

Hi folks. I'm completely new to this. I have three kit wines started and I've no idea if I'm doing it correctly. I'm sure I read and followed the kit instructions exactly. Time will tell.
