    Bottle Sterilizing

I fill a washing up bowl full of hot water and add a couple of teaspoons of oxi clean, leave to soak an hour scrub labels off, give a good shake, rinse out with plenty hot water then onto draining board, then on bottling day I use my bottle washer with no rinse steriliser and put bottles onto my...

    Hobgoblin bottles

Bin fodder! the shape of the top makes them almost impossible to cap, I use a youngs twin handled capper. Go to your local and raid the bottle bins, the cider ones are always good and the old speckled hen.

    Wilko Sweet Newkie Brown

I am going to brew to about 19 litres and either use 500g sugar and 500g dark spray malt or just use 1kg dark spraymalt. :hmm:

    Wilko Sweet Newkie Brown

Very true mate, recently did a lager kit that I brewed to the full 23 litres and just used normal table sugar, the result was ok but a bit thin and watery, don't want to make the same mistake again.

    missing tom caxton sachets

That's ****e mate, sorry to hear this, unfortunately I think it would be a case of driving down, could you not ring the store and have a bit of a go, might get something for free for the inconvenience?.

    Wilko's Sweet Newkie Brown

I have one of these kits in the cupboard which I bought in the recent sale. I am planning on brewing short to 20 litres and using 500g dark spraymalt and 500g table sugar. Should turn out reasonable.

    Anyone used j20/budweiser bottles?

I have loads of 500ml and 568ml bottles, wanting the smaller ones for a Brewferm Christmas kit I'm doing as its a bit much to drink in pints I feel. Cheers

    Brewferm Xmas Ale Review

Going to be brewing this over the weekend. Ready for Christmas 2015, should be good, might go for the smaller bottles as stated, too rich for having a pint of it....... have to see if I have enough Budweiser bottles and j20 bottles.

    first time kegging

Where did it leak from? Seems a common post this one, never had any trouble with mine, if its the tap, try leaving at 3 o clock rather than fully closed, if its the seal did you use a smear of Vaseline on the seal and make sure you didn't over tighten it?.

AG or not AG that is the question?

I would love to do AG, but lack of time space and funds restricts things, time mainly working long hours, its nice to just knock up a quick kit on an evening and pick another evening a fortnight ish later for bottling/kegging. If I didn't work then I'd certainly do AG. Keep praying for 6 numbers...

looking for a summer time tipple

festival stag or woodfordes sundew? Seem to get good reviews. Woodfordes sundew is only £17.99 at my lhbs www.creativewinemaking.co.uk Not made a summer ale yet so as for the taste I couldn't comment, but surely worth a look?. :thumb:

    Woodfordes Headcracker

I am planning to brew one of these one day, I am collecting small Budweiser bottles, as a couple of pints at 7 % is enough to put you on your back, not really a session beer, more something to warm you in winter whilst sat beside the log burner........ that's my take on it anyway.

    Quality kit for Christmas

Col this is exactly what I plan to do, the only difference being that I will leave my Brewferm kits to condition 18 months as they seem to be excellent after this amount of time from what I have read up on. I am brewing as many as I can now and will store in a corner of my shed out the way. Only...
