Turning my brew fridge into a glycol chiller

Yup, hours. I don't think I could use it as it is, as the evaporator won't be submerged in the glycol. Also the water container for the ice cube maker is quite small, maybe 1L, not even sure a pump would fit in there.

Turning my brew fridge into a glycol chiller

Going from 21C to 0.5C takes about 10-12h depending on ambient temperature and temperature of the glycol reservoir (I have it at 4C during fermentation, set it to -3C for cold crash). That's what I did before switching to use the ice maker compressor, I just filled a cool box with ice...

Choosing between a 60º and 120º conical fermenter

I tend to brew Pale Ales, (NE)IPAs and Bitters mostly, with the occasional Hefeweizen or Witbier. For 90% of the brews I use London Ale III yeast or derivatives (Verdant IPA, AEB New-E).

Choosing between a 60º and 120º conical fermenter

Hello, I'm looking into buying a new fermenter, and would like to get a stainless steel one. I currently own a Fermzilla Gen2, and I'm tired of how many times I've managed to break the threads in the collection container by screwing the caps slightly too much, plus it's a pain to disassemble...

Turning my brew fridge into a glycol chiller

I bought my used ice maker for 35€, there are plenty of those in second hand markets for very cheap prices. For what is worth, with that setup I can cold crash a 27L Fermzilla with insulated jacket with an ambient temperature of 24C.

You can build yourself a gylcol chiller quite easily with an ice maker compressor: https://www.instructables.com/DIY-Water-Chiller/

    NEIPA - naked oats?

I have a mill that has a minimum gap of 0.025", I will attempt to mill the GNO first at that setting without the rest of the malt. I was wondering exactly the same about whether to use 500gr flaked oats and 500gr GNO or just 1Kg of GNO. I guess I will try with 1Kg GNO and see how sweet it can...

    NEIPA - naked oats?

Interesting. I was planning on brewing with a very similar grain bill: 80% Low Color Golden Promise 7.5Kg 10% Chit malt 1Kg 10% Golden Naked Oats 1Kg And was worried about how to mill GNO properly, and whether using 10% GNO would be too much. Glad to see it worked for you Cheers.
