Wilkinsons Fruits of the Forest Cider

Well several bottles have now been drunk and I am very pleased with the overall taste, I would say easily as nice as Bulmers fruit cider. I found that using 500ml old cola bottles meant the sediment all remains in the "feet" of the the bottle and you pretty much get the whole thing without...

Wilkinsons Fruits of the Forest Cider

All bottled up and and now to play the waiting game! Took a little longer then it was supposed to (as always with these kits) and stopped at 1010 so came out about 4.8%. Initial taste when bottling was very pleasant so I think this will be a winner for the summer! Oh and yes I got a lot of...

    First alcotec brew

That's a good idea, I think I will keep the bottles I haven't flavoured yet away somewhere for a few months and see what happens. The ones I flavoured using skittles and haribo sweets have actually started to lose a bit of the nasty aftertaste, keeping them in the fridge and it being about a...

    First alcotec brew

I did sterilise everthing but it's always possible I messed up somewhere. Mind you I have drunk a fair bit of it and haven't become ill yet!! The chap in he homebrew shop seemed to think using the yeast I used is why it is not so nice! Do you think I should stop drinking it? ...

    First alcotec brew

Yep I bought a bag of Alcotec Pure Karbon, 1.7l, Activated Carbon 0.4 - 0.85mm It was what the chap in the homebrew shop suggested, I have now run it through 5 times and given up. It's certainly better then before but still smells like glue or something! I have mixed some with a southern...

    First alcotec brew

Well I have now run it through 4 times....still smells and tastes pretty bad! Is it worth keep running it through or is this as good as it's going to get? It's certainly not drinkable neat but that's not a problem, the main thing is the nasty aftertaste it has even when mixed! I...

    First alcotec brew

Well I purchased a length of pipe, a bowl and used a funnel and some mulsin I already had to create this: I glued the funnel to the bowel and made a hole in the bowl to allow the liquid through, tried a few different ways to attach the funnel to the tube but ended up with leaks so in the end...

    First alcotec brew

Thanks all, I might try and give it a go filtering it to try and make it drinkable. I originally used liquid activated carbon but it still has that nasty taste and smell!

    First alcotec brew

Just a quick question, my wash is nice and clear and has been bottled for about 3 weeks now, but is still smells and tastes foul! Is it too late to filter it using the pipe and granules method? Only way I have managed to cover the taste is putting a whole bag of Haribo sweets in a bottle!

    Greetings all

Hi everyone, just wanted to pop in and say hello. I have been using this site as help to get myself up and running with homebrew since deciding it was time to start making my own stuff earlier this year. Started with a beer kit from Wilko's which had all the kit in it to start a batch off -...
