    Physics clone MM

Afternoon. Been away for a long time. I've been building my career, bought a house and drifted majorly from brewing. When I bought the house, I thought I'd get back into it for small batch AG. So, I got bit's and bob's from Malt Miller, including this 1 gallon kit in 2020. Needless to say...

    Horrible smell in the FV

Very solventy. Could have been from my last brew, or because I cleaned out my FV with Wilko Bruclens cleaner and steriliser. Will some boiling water and star san remove the horrid smell? It really is bad and don't want it to taint future brews...

    Coopers Lager: possible tweak/experiment

So, Thinking of doing Coopers Lager, mixed with a tin of Coopers Light Malt Extract and using Saflager Yeast, brewed short to 21.5L and try to keep my FV at 14degs for 2 weeks. I then plan to bottle in 500ml Pets, primed with 1tsp granulated sugar, then putting them in a fridge at 2-3degs for...

    2nd ever brew: Woodfordes Wherry

Got this on today. Brewed short to 21L, added kit yeast and two teaspoons of yeast nutrient, pitched at 26degs. OG: 1042 Had a bit of a 'mare though. As you can see from this thread: http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=42982, I put too much hot water in. Been stirring like...

    Wherry: Quick Question

ABout to kick off my second ever brew, and my very first Wherry! So, question is regarding yeast. Is the kit yeast sufficient or should I up the anti on it? I have a Coopers Yeast from a Coopers lager kit that I could add..... (I know it's an ale yeast, and not a lager yeast :D ) Thoughts?

Yeast nutrient and is it worth it?

Woodfordes Wherry next on the agenda. :thumb: Going to rehydrate kit yeast and wondering if a couple of teaspoons of yeast nutrient will make any difference at all? :hmm: Cheers,

Ever made up a kit that was going "out of date" that day?

Just asking. I was in Tesco 2 weeks ago and they had a Coopers Australian Pale Ale going out of date today (3/6/13) so I left well alone due to forum advice I read on here. Just wondering if anyone has done it, i.e. made up a kit (any kit) on the expiry date of said kit and got either good or...

Taking hydrometer reading when beer is conditioned

Simple question, no doubt a simple answer! To determine final %ABV in conditioned beer, why does nobody do a hydrometer test in the final product? Do the bubbles caused by carbonation affect hydrometer buoyancy, for example? Is it less accurate?

    And Away we go!

So, Coopers Kit arrived today. Made up a Coopers Canadian Blonde to 21l, using Brew Enhancer 1 and I also used bottled water (apart from boiled water in kettle). £1.70 for 10 x 2l bottles isn't a bank breaker. So, sanitised everything and got to work getting everything ready. I...

Kits what give off "eggy" smells

Due to my current living arrangement, any "eggy" smells are a :nono: Therefore, can people put up their list of beer kits not to buy?! Can't face the drama that this could potentially cause! Cheers in advance!

    Afternoon!

New member here! 34yr old bloke from the outskirts of Glasgow and due to a busy lifestyle (well... this month anyway!) I will be embarking on my Home Brew hobby come the end of the month! As I'm a lazy, tight git, I will be opting for the Coopers home brew kit. It seems the easiest way forward...
