Most of the Craft/Cask ales pubs I use in Leeds pull your pint and take your money or even take the next customers orders while allowing time to settle then comeback and top up so no time lost there. It also proves most are trained properly re pulling and serving Cask handpull

    Brewzilla 4 boiloff rate question

I sometimes boil off too much and just adjust the amount in Brewers Friend recipe calculator to my volume or you can change it to your required OG by adding water or sometimes if it is short add a little sugar. Playing with the recipe inputs will tell you how much sugar or water to add etc

    Brewzilla 4 boiloff rate question

I boil at the garage door with it open and struggle to get to 101c unless I have it on full but in my opinion a do not need a heavy rolling boil and that's why I knock my power down as long as it is a boil it is ok for me. I do not measure absolute nowadays but I would say mine is between 3.5...

    Brewzilla 4 boiloff rate question

did you have the heat on full if so that is why you had so much boil off. I turn my heat down to about 60/65% once boil is reached for a slight rolling boil instead of a intense one

Grain Mill recommendations and grain crush for Brewzilla Gen4

I will give that a try PP, sounds pretty good to me and as you said if you have flow to the bottom as well as going through the mash should solve the starvation of the bottom reservoir. Need to order some silicon tube how much did you order and where from? Edit Silicon ordered 2mtrs I will need...

Grain Mill recommendations and grain crush for Brewzilla Gen4

I have sussed most of it PP I do minimal stirring when doughing in then let the bed settle/rest for 10 minutes or so with no recirculation over the bed but down the side of the maltpipe near the bottom temp probe so as to keep the temp as close as possible(I am using the additional Rapt temp...

    Oh no, looks bad!

No but if you have a plastic bottle fill one so you can keep an eye on any possible over carbing which could mean a infection not that I think it is anything to worry about. Lets us know how it goes.

    Oh no, looks bad!

Looks like a pellicle to me. Depending on which it is you can sometimes syphon below the pellicle and it may be ok. I know this sounds gross but syphon a little off from below with a wine thief and if it tastes good I would bottle but be careful with the last bottles not to get any in.

    Brown ale

Bubbling is not a reliable way of confirming fermentation. Is there any foam on top of the brew which is a more reliable sign of fermentation or try tightening the lid and airlock as the co2 sometimes finds leaks and bypasses the airlock giving the impression of no fermentation.

    Used Grain for animal feed?

Hi Easy question to answer for some but I keep throwing my spent grains in the bin and was wondering if it is ok for animal/chicken feed even with additives like crystal wheat etc as I do not want to give it to chicken owners and harm them

I love Cask but also love my"Cask Style" on my beer engine which is of the style discussed and I would say many members on here do a similar style to me i.e not technically real cask but find it good for them. I would not like Real Cask to die out but the difference is not always noticeable and...

I think the holes are about 3mm approx. I do not use it in the boil for 2 reasons, 1. it is not a silicon bulb I have used 2. I do not use my pump at boil temps as I am not sure the pump is rated for boiling temps
