I have a 5 Gal (30 Bottles) wine kit and woundered if I could split it accross 5 demijohns?

Could I mix it all in a big tub and split it?

I have a plastic femerinting bin from when I make beer but it doesnt have an air bung just a normal sealed lid.

Would a better option be to make a hole in the lid and fit a normal air lock?

If you can brew beer without a hole for an airlock you can ferment wine without a hole for an airlock because the gas is obviously getting out somehow.

Start it off in the bucket and rack to multiple DJs when the time comes to stabilise and fine.

I have always gone off the air lock no longer bubbling for two days to know the wine is ready, I guess I will have to use a hydromiter for the wine in the bin?

So just let it get underway in the bucket and rack to multiple DJs after 2-3 days.

im in a similar situation,

ive started an elderflower champs in a 30 litre bin and a 30litre valpollicella kit in a bin.

ive racked em both off into new sterile bins with lids. are they ok there till they need stabilising or move em to djs?

im sure my missus wont want 10 more djs in the kitchen!

thanks
