Phew.

1st AG brew over and it all seemed to go OK.

English IPA from the Home Brew Beer book.

5.8 Kg of Pale Malt
145g Crystal Malt

Mash for 1hr at 65°C
Boil for 1hr 10mins

70g Challenger hops at start
35g Golding 15 mins before end
35g Golding at turn off

1tsp of Protofloc 15 mins before end.

My setup is an HLT (50l) as per Vossy1's design , a Mush Tun (35l) following OldSpeckledGits guide and a boiler (50l) again from Vossy1. I was lucky enough to get these from Bergland before they stopped doing UK shipping. My wort chiller is 10mm copper coiled round a DJ with hosepipe fittings at each end.

HLT temp was 76°C and once I'd doughed in , the mash was at 66.1°C. 1 degree over but I decided that was close enough. After an hour it was still at 66.1 so assume it was probably slighty hotter than that and was impatient with the thermometer at the initial measure.

Apart from my sparge arm undoing itself at the beginning, that all went well.

Boil all went well as did the chill.

Ended up with 20l of wort at 1050 as opposed to 23l at 1060 but as a first attempt I'm happy.

Its now sat in an FV in the kitchen having pitched the re-hydrated US05 yeast.

All I can do now is wait :)

Many thanks to all the posters who's ideas I have pinched !!!

Good job buddy :thumb:
Some brewing software would help with the volumes and SG.
