I live in Bristol, been to many pubs recently and It's becoming a struggle to find good cask bitter, there's normally about 5 IPA's to choose from and a couple of stouts but not one amber ale/bitter... Think that's the general trend some places are moving towards especially if it means they can do away with cask and move to kegs as they are easy to manage.

It's like all the work CAMRA did to revolutionise beer, that led to the craft beer movement, has come full circle leading to homogenous keg 'craft' but none of the proper real ale in cask...

Still, super happy to have the variety but would nice if there was at least an option of amber ale

Bristol is a big place, plenty of cask ale available in the right pubs.
As for finding a BJCP 19A I'd cross the Atlantic and start hunting.
Although I do have one on tap but you'll get jet lag.
Used to live in Bristol and enjoyed this video

Suggests cask is not dead and I've been to all of these pubs in the last century!!
