Hi all.
I will be doing another brew when the weather cools slightly, and having done a few brews I am thinking of ways of optimising my brewing process.
The main think I have issue with, is my boiler filter blocking with hops when I transfer to the FV. Rather than re-designing the filter, I was thinking that it might be better to add the hops in a cotton net bag, such that there is far less demand on the filter at the bottom of the boiler.
Are there any drawbacks to this plan. The main issues I can think of are:
1) the hop leaves themselves usually help the filter take out some of the smaller break material, would this mean I carry lots of break material into the FV?
2) will the hops release their flavour as well if the are in a bag (even if the bag is quite large)?
Thanks
