sorry pittsy, after all you hard work on my IPA extract plans i have now decided to go with a BIAB to christen my shiny new pot, its something a bit different using some hop i know i love in different beers, will they work together? hopefully!

How does this look.

sounds nice , i would poss reduce the grains a little though as 6% seems a little high for an ipa maybe try getting og around 1050/1055, more seems better but can ruin a brew at times , maybe not though :thumb:

If i cut the Marris Otter to 3.5kg that gives an estimated 5.5% Abv, does that seem more palatable?

also on the beer calculus pittsy i take it that batch size is what im aiming for my batch to finish at after the boil and when it says BOIL XX AVG LITRES FOR 60 MINUTES under hop additions this is the size of the batch before the boil? i assume depending on dead space of the boiler and with loss due to absorption of the gran/hops etc and boil off i will be needing to boil around 30 ish litres for a 19/20 litre batch?

cheers.

yes but all depends on your set up , mine is around 30l and finish with 23l , you will need to do a brew or 2 to get to know yours , 5.5% seems good to me :thumb:
