That's probably the style of the original Wrexham lager which was established in 1882 in Wrexham. It was an almost black beer. The original brewery, now gone, was founded by my sister's husbands family.

Cheers

Look up the Flag porter story, Brewlab and their in house brewery Darwin recreated a porter from a bottle found in a shipwreck and were even able to taste test it with someone in their 80s who used to drink the beer.

The Brewlab owner, Keith Thomas,is a resident lecturer at Sunderland Uni and a beer/yeast expert instrumental in early CAMRA days!

This resurrected beer is also currently available from Darwin brewery.
