Hi folks,

I have a Klarstein / Hopcat and I've also been playing around with ESP wifi enabled devices for home automation. I'm thinking of using Tasmota on an ESP 8266 device to implement the PID control (https://github.com/arendst/Tasmota/wiki/PID-Control-with-Sonoff-Devices) along with node-red (https://onbrewing.com/brewing-with-node-red-pt-2-my-dashboard/).

The thing is the Klarstein has 2 elements, a 700W and a 1800W element... I'm wondering what control logic to use in this case and if there is a standard way of doing it?

The only time you're going to need PID control is during the mash, so probably the 700w will suffice?

I agree PID is all about precise temp control, nothing else.!!!!

If you use it on the 700w element make sure it can handle at least 4 amps.
