Hello

I have finally got round to pressing my first gallon of apple juice, I was planning on letting the natural apple yeasties do their thing but its been well over 24 hours and no action so far.

Does anybody out there have any previous experience of how long this can take to get going?

p.s. I rinsed the apples before pulping them, not sure if I could have washed the yeast off? :| I just dont know.

We made slightly more than you did 2 weeks ago:

270 gallons in total

The yeasties take a while to kick in, I would leave it a week to wait for some action

We left our apples outside for 2 weeks, in the rain before pulping them and the yeast still started

Good luck

Cool, thanks for the heads up, I will remove the panic hat for now then :D

The scratter you are using looks fantastic, far more adventurous than the tree trunk and bucket ive been relying on.
