In America they have devices to shrink the capsule on the bottle.

Available in UK too, I've never bothered with them myself, but if you want your bottles to look flash when giving as presents they are ok I guess.

A mate used to do it he tried a hair dryer to shrink them on and all sorts of other things, and ended up with some heath robinson device he cobbled together with some sort of coiled electric heat element.

I use these -

The subject of reusing metal screw top wine bottles has been discussed many times in the forum, some members have posted that the threads eventually wear and the caps do not seal properly, Novatwist Plastic Screw Caps are a cheap reusable alternative.

Ah ok, now I didn't realise the novatwist caps were reusable and plastic:doh:

I thought they were like the shop bought wine bottle aluminium tops that break in the middle when opened.

I may have to give them a go when I run out of corks if they can be used again, even if they only got used twice they would work out roughly the same as corks in price, if they can be used more than twice it would be a saving, that would be good:thumb:

I have used them many times, and they are still airtight, the sleeve comes away from the cap the first time you open a bottle but is locked onto it, they don't look as good the second time you use them but do the same job, these would be ideal if sending bottles through the post as you can see if the bottle has been tampered with.

its me birthday next month so I may get one of the family to treat me or if too late, I'll treat meself, but then feck, they come in different colours :hmm:

He says in the video that the white disc inside the lid that gets flattened when you screw the cap on will eventually not give a great seal, i have found this is not the case so far and have reused them many times over.
