I've got a white wine (Beaverdale White Burgundy) which has stopped clearing half way through. The top half of the fermentation vessel is perfectly clear but suspended sediment is visible in the bottom half. It's not a huge amount dut definitely niticeable. I suspect what happened was that I left it for a little longer than 24 hours after adding the kieselsol fining agent and the wine had already started to clear so when I added the chitosan I didn't give it a good enough shake!

So a question: should I just syphon this off to another container and start fining again or it it a better idea to syphon off through a filter (I have one of the Harris Vinbrite ones) and attempt to clear the wine that way?

Give it another shake now, then leave it somewhere cool for a few days.

I know that might sound counter-productive but it will work.

Vinbrite or any other wine filters are not for clearing cloudy wines but for polishing clear ones.

^^^ Thanks, although finding somewhere cool at the moment is proving tricky I'll give that a go.
