Similar situation in my garden. Took a bag of dried ones to Matchfest last year and asked the assembled "brains on toast" to give them some olfactory analysis. Turns out they are Goldings...... and some very nice ales they've gone into this year.
Unfortunately there's not a lot of visual difference between hops, so it's the smelling and tasting that does the job.
