    Brains SA clone

Yep, Skull Attack, one of the few beers that my body rejects on the basis of bad prior experience.

    Licorice Stout/Porter

I've got some licorice root that I'm going to use to make a 'tea' that I'll use to lace a porter that I've already made. If that works I'll try adding the tea to the beer during racking on a future brew. Hopefully I'll get onto that later the week.

    Flame out hops

I've been taking the (at least according to Mitch Steele) Thornbridge approach of 30 min steep a flame out. I was going to try dropping the temperature to 80 pre-hopping, but that brulosophy article has put me off. It's seems odd that anyone bothers to drop the temperature before final hopping...

    Finings or Not

Personally I leave for 3-4 weeks in the fv, clears far better than any post boil finings I've used.

    Rye-lo Ren - A Rye IIPA

I love Nelson as well, using it with sorachi was what piqued my interest. I'm working on a NS & ahtanum blend Pale Ale myself. I think the sorachi I've had erred on the side of dill rather than lemon, be interested to hear how yours turns out... One thing's for sure, those hops are going to...

    Rye-lo Ren - A Rye IIPA

Wow, an impressive blend. What do you hope to get from the sorachi ace? I've tried it a couple of times in a single hop brew and not really liked it, not sure I've had it in a hop blend.

    Whirlpool vs Dry hop

I've using Thornbridge recipes as inspiration and they tend to use a 30 minutes steep after boiling and before chilling and no dry hopping. Certainly makes racking easier with no dry or secondary hops to deal with.

    nelson hops?

Yep Nelson will be Nelson Sauvin hops - I really like them myself, they are great for dry hoping, add a fruity aroma like sauvignon blanc wine, so not to everyone's taste. I'd go for the fruity cascade if I had to chose.

    Automated brew paddle/stirrer

Personally I don't do that much stirring except when mashing-in & when bashing the hell out of my wort to oxygenate... Perhaps I need to stir more??? Is my beer stir deficient? ?

    Hop Growing in the garden

I've got some rhizomes sitting in my fridge, waiting to be dealt with. So grow them in pots until august 2017? Should they be supported in any way in the pots once they start to send up shoots - Give them a wigwam of poles like you would for beans?

Should I go straight in at the deep end?

I started with extract kits, then my own extract recipes, then biab ag kits, then my own biab ag recipes, now ag 3 vessel. I'd say I could have missed out on the early extract stuff as biab is pretty straight forward. Depends what you fancy really ... I didn't want to do to can based kits...

    6 Nations

Nice idea based on the classic adverts, but I remember the beer as flavourless and weak - so not at all representative of the country or the rugby team!

    6 Nations

I'd go for either a traditional best bitter inspired by the likes of Reverend James or felinfoel double dragon. Or more contemporary I think there's a case for a Welsh red Ale, take inspiration from Tiny Rebel's cwtch - and it links nicely with the flag and the red dragon.

    Repeat brew

There's a funny thing with homebrew stouts and porters I find. I don't usually drink them in a pub or even bottled to any extent, but homebrew I can't get enough. Far more likely to go through a few bottles in a session than any other style of beer - don't really understand it [emoji6]
