    Your favourite English bitter recipe

Long story short, I've got a mate due to return from a year travelling. To mark his return I'm brewing up a keg for a welcome home party. I have a few ideas for a bitter recipe but haven't had the chance to brew them up before so before i start experimenting I'd like to know if you have any...

Sarah Hughes ruby mild - too sweet

Thanks for the replies. That's right, there's around 1kg of crystal in the recipe I used if I recall so there's certainly enough in there! I used notty too and was surprised how low it attenuated so I was hoping I wouldn't get too much cloying sweetness although that is the case haha. Looks like...

Sarah Hughes ruby mild - too sweet

I brewed a Sarah Hughes ruby mild in October and transferred to bottles and a keg. At first I thought it wouldn't be too sweet as it over attenuated finishing around 10 gravity points lower than expected so it's nudging over 7%. In the keg the beer seems far too sweet and not particularly...

Does anyone have a good dunkel recipe?

Just wondering if anyone has a good tried and tested AG dunkel recipe out there or any tips to make a decent one? I've tried both Mahou Negra and Erdinger Dunkel and really enjoyed them in the past so would love to make a batch of my own. Cheers

Help - Beer in keg issue

I've seen other people on here salvage most of their beer by siphoning the beer under the infection off and re bottling/kegging. If it tastes ok it may be worth keeping in mind if its worth the risk to you.

    Planning ahead ... AG4

Mine were ready fairly soon although I like to drink my beers young (because I can't wait to try them haha). As mine were pretty hoppy I think drinking them younger preserved more of their hop aroma too which i was more than happy with. They would've been ready sooner had I used a more...

    Planning ahead ... AG4

Have you thought about a SMaSH brew? Around 4-5kg of Marris Otter (possibly a splash of wheat malt for head retention) depending on your prefered strength and whichever hop takes your fancy? Personally id go for the EKG. I made 2 for my first all grains (using citra and cascade) and have to say...

wyeast 1318 London ale yeast alternative?

Thanks for the heads up though, i'm planing on getting at least a couple of brews out of it when i finally cave into buying it. I've never used liquid yeasts so i hope the price is justified in the final product!

spent grain dog treats - can they have roasted grain?

there doesn't seem to be a quick way around it but the long way round certainly makes some great treats, i made a large batch of around 70 a couple of months ago and they're just running out so time well spent i think!
