I have broken the adapter that connects my regulator to a John Guest connector. The regulator is one of these

The broken bit is the part that screws into the side of the regulator and then connects into a JG adapter which then connects to...
I have just reached FG on a batch of Effin stout, would you recommend some time in a secondary before putting it into the corny? At the same time would beer brite be recommended or is it just too dark a beer to need that?

When you say steep the hops at 80 degrees do you add at 80 degrees and continue cooling or add at 80 degrees for X minutes and then continue cooling?

Has anyone used the Sestos D1S-VR-220 PID?
I am looking at the "manual" http://www.sestos-hk.com/english/download/d1s-en.pdf
Am I right in thinking that pins 1, 11 and 12 are for the alarm so I can ignore if no alarm fitted?
Pins 3, 4 are for the tthermocouple so what is 5 for? I presume it...
Yesterday I made a Marstons Porter clone and started the fermentation.
Today the FV feels warm to the touch and when measured is nearly 30 degrees C I have never had a batch get this warm before (the room it is in is in the high teens BTW), should I put it somewhere cooler?

Same sort of problem except I have lost all the CO2 in my CO2 cylinder, I couldnt hear it leaking at all so to lose that much in a few days surprises me.
Now I have the problem of trying to find a supplier in the Essex area, any ideas?

I have been looking on ebay for a PT100 and they all seem to come with a long metal probe, how do you use these in your HLT/Boiler?
I would have thought that a shorter probe would be more convenient or am I missing something?

I have just taken delivery of a nice new shiny 50l stockpot and a Haden element to fit to it.
Has anyone got any advice as to how high up the pot to cut the hole for the element? If it is too low I would think it would be difficult to pull the steel flatish to get a good seal and too high and...

Last night I was testing it and all seemed well but when I checked the displayed temp against that on my trusty alcohol thermometer there was about a 10-15 degree difference with the STC...
My LIDL boilers electronics died last weekend and rather than throw it away I have connected an ST1000 to the element, I figure at the very least I could use it as a HLT. I had to replace the temperature probe and have used a flanged plug (http://www.screwfix.com/p/brass-flanged-plug/74849) as a...
I have seen plenty of pics of people making boilers using these elements.
However I have only seen pictures of the wiring that looks pretty lethal on the outside of the boiler maybe I have just been looking at the wrong pics. I have seen the ones that use an old sealent gun tube to provide...
Thanks for reply, I might give the ST1000 a try then that just arrived today.
Only problem I can see is that the ST1000 can only drive 10A and if you had more than one kettle element then I do not think it would be able to drive it after all a 1700w Tesco element draws over 7A. So is this one...
