    Wilko Sweet Newkie Brown

Got this kit in the Wilko sale, can't find many reviews on this one in the review kits section, was thinking of brewing slightly short and adding dark spraymalt with some sugar, recently did a Youngs Definitive Lager kit with just household sugar and brewed to 23 litres, it tastes ok and came...

81 or 45 bottle tree size

Want to order a bottle tree off malt miller and can't decide between 45 or 81 bottles, would the 81 bottle tree be too cumbersome, I guess in reality I would only need a 45 bottle tree, there's only 1.50 in the price, short of storage space also, cheers

Lots of head on my Wherry

Brewed a wherry a few weeks ago which has been in PB, since day one it has had loads of head/froth, I used 100 grams priming sugar, I have drunk maybe 10 pints and it still seems to take ages to pull a pint....... Any ideas? Too much sugar? It's in a wilkos PB Thanks

Is £25 a lot for a FV with tap?

Just rang lhbs and they quoted me £25 for FV with tap, sounded dear to me but if I remember right they look half decent and the ones at £15 on the internet look a bit inferior, I know you can fit a tap to a cheap wilko FV but I don't feel confident in doing that, don't want it leaking and...

    Making a cheap slider?

Made 2 litres of Sloe Gin which is ready. Want to make Slider again which I have made before. Last time I used Westons scrumpy in one of those small demi john style containers, its about 7.5 % if I remember right but not the cheapest cider. Could I just use some cheap fizz and have a cheaper...

Easiest way to sterilise 40 odd bottles

When I do my lager I am going to bottle it. Normally use PB but for chilling purposes am going to bottle it. I normally use Milton Tablets and it would be a pain in the backside to start breaking up a load of Milton tablets and faffing about putting a bit in each then sit them in the sink...

    Bottling for a newbie

Going to be starting a Youngs ubrew Definitive Lager in a couple of weeks. I plan to bottle for chilling purposes. My FV has no tap. I have a Wherry conditioning in PB at the moment, so if I have to transfer my Lager to PB to attatch little bottler to the tap I would have to buy another PB. Any...

    Has My English Port finished?

Racked my English Port last weekend after a bit of sediment had accumulated and the airlock had stopped bubbling. I topped up with just under 1/2 pint syrup and it re started slowly and now has totally stopped, not bubbling atall. Not tested it with hydrometer as didn't get the OG. Quite new to...

Are the Youngs bottle cappers any good?

Going to be starting a Youngs ubrew Definitive Lager in a few weeks and I figure for easy chilling of the Lager in summer months I will have to bottle it instead of the usual PB. I am thinking of getting one of those Youngs cappers for around £10 I think they are with the 2 levers on. Are...
