    Bulldog, Hammer of Thor

Not sure if this is the place to ask a question about this beer...but I've started this keg on Sunday and by day 2 the krausen had all gone? I've not had this before with a brew (I've probably done about ten or so). It still appears to be fermenting as there are lots of small bubbles rising...

    Wilkinsons Golden Ale

Is it possible that the bubbling could be due to dissolved CO2 coming out of solution that is giving you the airlock activity rather than being an indicator of further fermentation? Guess the specific gravity will be the key.

    Wilkinsons Golden Ale

I'm guessing the 21 days would be one week in the FV then two weeks in the barrel? It'll be drinkable at that stage (I had my first pint after 11 days in the FV then 2 weeks in the barrel) and it was very hoppy and bitter. However after a further 5 weeks in the barrel it had mellowed and...

Loss of pressure on barrel - advice needed please

I took the cap off this afternoon and found that the ring was puckered (home brewing seems to be excellent for double entendres - either that or I have a juvenile mind!) so took it out of the cap and replaced it with a new one stolen from another cap. Re-lubricated and tightened gently to try...

Loss of pressure on barrel - advice needed please

I have had a Coopers Original Stout in the keg for a month now (it was absolutely delicious after a week!), and just over a week ago I noticed that the pressure had dropped dramatically. Where the beer had previously come out of the barrel really quickly, resulting in a decent sized head it was...

    Wherry: Quick Question

Currently drinking my second batch of wherry, i have used the supplied yeast on both occasions and both came out great! I too found that it took around 6-8 weeks in the keg to get really good, as previous posters have said.

    Mead anyone?

That's great, thanks for all the hints. I'll definitely have a go at racking I think. Btw your finished bottles look great :)

    Wilkinsons Golden Ale

I found exactly the same in terms of colour, much darker than i thought it would be! Glad its not just me... I also found it to be much hoppier and bitter than i was expecting, although that has mellowed a little over time.

    Mead anyone?

Brilliant, thanks for the tip. It looks like (from what people have said above) it will need two months in the dj. How long after this do you then leave it in the bottle before sampling? And the usual idea of bottling then leave in the warm for a while before transferring to somewhere cooler...

    Mead anyone?

May I ask, how do u serve your mead? Chilled like a beer or warm like mulled wine? Sorry for the silly question, I've never had it before :)

    Mead anyone?

Good stuff, i have to say the smell in the kitchen was amazing when making this up, smelt like christmas- bit odd in august! So how will you go abput bottling, just transfer as is or will you add priming sugar?

    Mead anyone?

Ty for the recipe, i popped one of these on this afternoon (using a combination of the two posts above!). So, i'll leave it to ferment and stand for a good while, does the recipe then say to bottle it? And would the bottles require priming (1 tsp per pint?) Cheers

    Sweetened TC

Not sure if this is the correct thread to ask a question on but it is relevant to the thread title. I sweetened a pomegranate and apple TC using Candrel (the one in tablet form) sweetener at the bottling stage, its been in the bottle for around 5 weeks. It tastes absolutely horrible, a really...

Too much froth from my keg.

I have had a similar problem with this exact brew. I will defo try using less priming sugar next time (although not helpful for your current situation!). I have heard that some people use a length of hose to try and reduce the amount of froth, i just found i had to pour it as slowlt as possible...

    First brews

I have done both of these and split the batch in both cases ie. bottled 10 pints and kegged the rest. Unfortunately the golden ale is still conditioning so i will have to wait a few weeks before giving you a verdict on that one. However, i would say the wherry was much nicer from the keg than in...

    Best brands for beer kits

I'd have to say woodfordes, although i too am quite new to this brewing business. So far i have done their wherry and sundew, both ace.
