Hi guys been thinking of make the cooper OS stout or the Irish stout. (Any advice would be great)

Will be using 500g of Muntons Light Spray Malt and was going to use 300g of Dextrose. However after thinking about this I believe the ABV would be around the 4% mark.

What's the best way to bump up the ABV to around 5%-5.5% and still get a nice body to it. Would using 500g of dextrose affect the overall taste?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated [emoji106]🏻

Hi MonkeyM

I recommend the Coopers Stout, here's one I made earlier:

If you want to bump up your ABV you have to increase you sugar content. Easiest way is to add brewing sugar and for most kits I have made you need around 1kg to get 4.5%.

Warning, the Coopers has a vigorous fermentation so you should look for how to make a blow-off valve/pipe.

Good luck.
