I am thinking of playing around with my next coopers stout kit, In the past i have used 2 jars of H&B malt extract and it was a top notch brew. Now moving on further and after a bit of searching i am thinking of adding some oatmeal. My method would be Roast the oats for a hour or so, then brew in a bag , just the oats into a small pot as i dont have a boiler or any large pots. Does this sound like a plausable plan? Would i need to boil the wort first before adding it to my fv and making the kit up in the usual way?

Any advise would be appreciated.

Dunno about oats but I used 1kg of Demerara sugar and 500 g dark spray malt and it tastes great
The coopers stout kit is very good value
