'Real Madrid have been blown away by Man City'​

Manchester City have blown this Madrid team away in the first half. We wondered whether City would come out of the traps and they have been totally dominant. Missed a couple of chances early on. Thibaut Courtois has had a stormer in this first half but really clever play from City.
You felt it was coming and when it did come, lovely pass from De Bruyne into Bernardo Silva who produces an exquisite finish and then a clever header for his second goal. In many respects, Man City could and should be further ahead.

Manchester City 4-0 Real Madrid (5-1 agg): Champions League glory in sight for Pep Guardiola's side​

Pep Guardiola is football's great perfectionist but even he would struggle to find fault with the night of sheer mastery produced by Manchester City to obliterate holders Real Madrid to reach the Champions League final.

There was a brutal beauty about the manner in which Real were simply dismantled, greats such as Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Karim Benzema seemingly in a daze in the moments after City took a two-goal lead, the famously unflappable coach Carlo Ancelotti looking defeated and at a loss as he was locked in conversation with Vinicius Junior on the touchline.

If anyone had any doubts about the greatness of the side Guardiola has assembled, they might have been erased by an other-worldly display, especially in a first half during which Real were pretty much reduced to the level of a lower league side clinging on in a cup tie.

Manchester City win Premier League for third successive season after Arsenal lose​

Manchester City have been crowned Premier League champions for the third successive season after title rivals Arsenal lost at Nottingham Forest.

The Gunners, top for the majority of the campaign, are four points behind City with only one game left to play after being beaten 1-0 on Saturday.
Pep Guardiola's side have won the title in five of the past six campaigns.

They also have a chance to claim the Treble, with the FA Cup and Champions League finals to come next month.

Only Manchester United, in 1998-99, have previously achieved that feat - and it is their derby rivals whom City will meet at Wembley on 3 June, before facing Inter Milan a week later in Istanbul, where they will seek their first Champions League triumph.

City will lift the trophy after they play Chelsea on Sunday (16:00 BST).

Captain Ilkay Gundogan - who has scored four goals in the last two league games - said: "The Premier League is without doubt the most demanding and competitive league in the world, so that tells you everything about what an achievement this is.

"To have won this trophy three times in a row and five times in six years is incredible. That quality and consistency helps sum up what Manchester City stand for and ensures the club will continue to strive for success going forward.

City, champions for a ninth time in the club's history, had trailed Arsenal by eight points on 7 April, although they had played one game fewer than Mikel Arteta's leaders at that point.

It is only the fourth time that a team has been as many as eight points clear after at least 28 Premier League games and failed to win the title.

Only one team has ever had 69 points with 10 games remaining - as Arsenal did - and failed to win the title. That was Liverpool in 2018-19, when they finished on 97 points, one behind City.

But City have won 11 league games in a row - and dropped just two points from a possible 42 - to overhaul Arsenal and clinch the title with three games remaining.

I saw a comparison the other day of minutes played per player. Something like Saka had 3000 vs Silva's (I think) 2000. And that kind of thing was replicated throughout.

Arsenal tried to go all out and hope by the time they were gassed the gap would be enough and or ye'd be distracted by the CL.

I reckon had we won the Liverpool game we'd have done it

What an incredible start by Manchester City. From the kick off, the ball is played to Stefan Ortega, who hits it long and the ball is knocked on by Kevin de Bruyne to Ilkay Gündogan, who thunders a brilliant volley into the back of the net from the edge of the box.

Just 13 seconds on the clock and Manchester City are ahead. Stunning stuff.
