Just started a Mangrove Jack's Baltic Porter and noticed the yeast enclosed is Californian Lager Yeast - 20g.

Is this an error? Kit bought from Brew2Bottle as a short dated offer. Pack unopened and all other contents looked good.

Added 1.2Kg of liquid malt enhancer.

SG 1060.

Looking good but the yeast type has thrown me

Any ideas folks?

Thanks

Matt

Baltic Porter is generally fermented with a bottom fermenting/lager yeast. I assume they've included the California Lager yeast* as this can be fermented at ale temps, so that folk without means to ferment at lager temps can still brew it.
