never attempted it but, i believe we brits used nettles to make ale before we were educated in the use of hops :D and when we started using hops we started calling the brew, beer

i would say if it was good/nice we would all be brewing it , as we're not leads me to think its probably ****

Never tried it but nettles can be quite good to eat. I made nettle and wild garlic soup last year and now the wild garlic is coming into season I'm going to make a pesto as well. They taste rather like spinach but whether or not they taste like that in beer I do not know.

ii made one 2 years ago it was nice and down the earth

1 tesco bag full of nettle leaves
500g sugar brown/white
and some beer yeast

add as much or as little sugar you want to make it stronger/weaker

this recipe makes 1 gal.

I too made a nettle wine from the CJJ Berry book last year and it was Fantastic :thumb: wish I had done a larger batch as the 1 gallon didnt last long ;) Going to have another go this year but will try and make it more of a beer than a wine this time. Just google nettle beer there are a number of recipes available.

 DC
