Plastic Bottles

Hi All,
I have been given some empty 5lt plastic water bottles, i was wondering if they would be OK for storing wine in after racking? Has anyone got any ideals or have used or using these bottles.

I use 1.5 litre PET spring water bottles and have since the day i started making wine, some members believe chemicals can leach from the plastic into your wine, beer or cider but having searched when i first read this i couldn't find a definite yes or no, home brew shops sell plastic bottles so we have to assume they are safe.

Plastic is air permeable so the wine will oxidise faster in plastic than it would in glass, if you are planning on storing your wine for a long time (many months) go with glass.
