re using bottle caps

well after complete balls up ive ended up having to empty all my bottles of my raspberryade back into my FV so basically ive got a load of caps that have only been on a day or 2 that ive had to take off. the question is has anybody ever reused their caps or see a reason why i cant

Provided you ease the caps off slowly without bending them upwards, i don't see why you cant reuse them. I have got a lager kit to bottle this weekend so i might have a go at using one of the used caps i have dotted about just to see.

Crown caps ?
I wouldn't.
Not only is there a hygiene risk because they're reused but you are going to struggle to get a good seal.
It's not like they're expensive (at least not in comparison to the cost of a brew) at 2p each.

I know what you mean. I can sanitise them all but if they aren't going to seal properly then they aren't any good.

Screw caps are fine, providing they have plastic seals, not the paper and foil ones. I have been using the same ones for years with no problem.

I think you will struggle to get a good seal with reused crown caps. Removing them will have deformed them.

+1 for not using the crown caps again, i would rather make a trip out to my local homebrew hope or Wilkos to get some more
