I just realised plugging that into Brewfather that it’s impossible to match that profile (that much calcium to that little Sulphate/Chloride)!

I will match the calcium but increase the sulphate and chloride but keep the ratio the same

I've also made this a number of times, similar to Clint's but lacking the final hop addition. It was definately missing something so I'll try this additonal stage next time, thanks @Clint

BTW, I don't think Tribute travels well at all: I was down in Cornwall a few weeks ago and every pint was top-notch. A few pubs around here have it and it's just not the same, even had a pint in North Devon (Appledore) and that wasn't as good.

Yes it’s strange in pubs in Cornwall it’s fantastic but I’m not a big fan of the bottled or canned version. I’m surprised the casks are different to Cornwall though, I would have thought it was just the same. Anyway, it’s so easy to brew a version as good as the Cornish pub version.

Most things aren't as good over the other side of the Tamar.

Apart from internet connection.

Am I doing something wrong?

Here in Norfolk Woodfordes ales 5 miles up the road from me are nice in the pubs. I have tried the bottles they sell in Tesco and I dont know how they sell something so different. Wherry in bottles is a different beer by a long ways. Not a patch on the pubs stuff. Totally different mouth feel.

I had a few pints in Kent on Saturday and it tasted great so think it travels ok.

Just been trawling through this thread as I’m Gonna have a bash at this at some stage.

what about verdant yeast for it? its the only dry english yeast i used these days. ;liquid wise I was thinking Thames valley maybe?

Verdant's probably a bit too expressive for it, it's more on the Notty or Verdant-Notty blend side. The cheapest option is to buy a bottle of Proper Job and harvest from that...

I have had some excellent Tribute here in Gloucestershire and some pretty dire Tribute in North Devon. I don't think distance has as much to do with it as the skill of the cellarman.

Tribute brew day went very well. I used a bottle of proper job to step up the cell count. Very lively yeast and tastes very clean. I added 25g extra Willamette in the whirlpool. Just a few pics from brew day.

My tribute looks lighter that the original. Has anyone used black malt liquid extract to adjust the EBC? It's not a big issue just wondered if anyone has? I have some which says to use 30ml per 25l to increase by 10EBC. Once to yeast has dropped out I think it may look slightly darker anyway. Maybe a discussion for another thread.

I always use a little Black Malt to adjust the colour of my brews: it's an adjunct grain so can be steeped rather than mashed. I use a bit of it in many brews as the colour of other grains such as Crystal Malt can vary a bit.
