Placed an order yesrerday for grains, hops and yeast plus other bits so hopefully get my first brew of the year on this week.
I'm hoping to go for a porter for my first brew, I've got a recipe for guinness single stout porter from 1883. Aming for an 1060 Og.

Whats everyone brewing at the mo? Plus whats your favourite yeasts?

I've had some good results with mangrove jacks Newcastle yeast

Attenuation can be low but kept in temp range I achieved 70 odd % giving a nice 6% clean chocolate stout.

Nothing special regards yeast for me just ale yeast and SO4 going at the mo

Just trying two light, hoppy brews with US-05 yeast. Haven't used a dried yeast for 20(?) years. Seems good so far - not a real top-fermenter though.
Otherwise, favourite yeasts are Brewlab: East Midland 1 & Tyneside at the moment.
These are proper top-fermenters. Big difference for me.
I've had good results from other Brewlab yeasts. I did like the Burton a lot.
However, I've a strong suspicion that it turned me from Bill BrewMeister into Billy BurbleBottom (my suspicion - but Mrs Hoppyland is convinced! :-( )

Cool sounds good guys, I havn't gone down the liquid yeast route yet but i expect i will at some point. I like gv-12 and also us-05, only used it once so far in an american stout but turn out good nice clean flavours, wasn't so keen on s-04 as high sediment levels.
Have ordered some MJ's US west coast to see what its like anyone tried it? :thumb:
