Am about to order ingredients for my next brew...a Galaxy Golden Ale. I want to get a proper golden colour...like you get in Black Sheep's Golden Sheep Ale, or St Peters Golden ale. Anyone know how they get that extra intensity gold colour???

Dunno what they use. I have just polished off my Chinook pale ale and that was a lovely deep golden colour.

Maris Otter Malt 85%
Caramalt 7%
Wheat Malt 6%
Crystal Extra Dark 2%

You can use caramel malts or dark malt in small amounts. I use a straight base malt at 6 EBC. It gives a lovely straw colour.

I've just polished off a Mosaic SMASH that was 100% Dingemanns pale malt, and this had a lovely dark golden colour (not sure if this is the same as the brews you mention) from the slightly darker EBC the malt has - tasty too, would recommend

thanks guys, this is giving me some leads. Has anyone brewed anything with 100% Vienna?
